is a performative lecture conducted at AdK Berlin as part of the human machine symposium. The performance begins with a water acknowledgement. At the center of the stage is a hand made warp weighted loom with a water tube woven through it. The water bag that the tube is connected to contains 1.2Ls of water, the approximate amount of water consumed at google’s data centers to train the language model for this project. To the right of the stage is a diptych composing of two jacquard loom woven tapestries. I consume and finish the water during the course of my lecture, reading excerpts from a document I’m writing, Discourse on the Logic of Language Models.
This performance is part of an onging attempt at developing an aesthetics of complexity when thinking about artificial intelligence.
