This work is an interactive installation situated between taste and touch. Working in collaboration with Sapien LLC, an arduino compatible tongue augmentation device was employed to output tiny patterned electrical currents on the tongue.

This was developed during a residency at Hangar in Barcelona, where I was eating/learning from the catfish, an organism covered in taste buds and navigated the ocean via “tasting” electric currents in their environment.

I recorded electromagnetic waves in the city during my walks to the beach everyday, and translated it into patterns on the tongue augmentation device for the “viewer” to “taste” my journey through electroreception.
