Dried scoby, Danggui, rope, nautical cleat, herbal pastel
A note on materials:
Danggui is a commonly used Chinese medicinal herb, entering the work as the handles of these scrolls. The word Danggui also means "the inevitability of returns." The base of these scrolls are made with dried bacterial cellulose, a latent archive of living microbes awaiting future revival. The drawings are made with medicinal pastels, displayed with nautical cleats and red rope.
